Tuan Sing Holdings, a property developer and investment firm listed on the Singapore Stock Exchange, has unveiled its plans to revamp its mixed-use properties at 121-131 Collins Street and 23-25 George Parade in Melbourne, Australia.
As part of the project, Tuan Sing’s subsidiary Grand Hotel Group (GHG) has engaged Hong Kong-based urban design firm Urbis Ltd to submit a Town Planning Application to the City of Melbourne. The properties currently house the Grand Hyatt Hotel with 550 rooms and various retail spaces.
The reconstruction will focus on façade modifications, extensive refurbishment, and reconfiguration of spaces in the property’s podium from levels 4 to 9B, as announced by Tuan Sing on November 14th. The existing podium structure will be mostly retained to ensure that businesses for tenants and the Grand Hyatt Hotel can continue operating as usual.
The completed development, subject to regulatory approvals, will occupy a total gross floor area (GFA) of approximately 909,550 sq ft. It will also introduce a new luxury retail and food and beverage precinct.
According to William Liem, CEO of Tuan Sing, the podium redevelopment at 123 Collins Street will redefine connectedness and activation at one of Melbourne’s most prominent intersections in the esteemed Paris End. He also believes that this transformation can be an architectural statement of their environmental stewardship and that by reimagining rather than rebuilding, they are pursuing a sustainable vision that supports a thriving, connected, and culturally vibrant Melbourne for generations to come.
